9th CDBC Annual General Meeting - Thank you!
The Board of Directors and CDBC staff would like to thank everyone who participated in the CDBC's 9th Annual General Meeting on June 6, 2013. Our AGM was a great success with record attendance: 32 dietitians and public representatives attended in-person and 91 dietitians attended online! The 2012-13 Annual Report and Financial Statements are available on the CDBC website for information. If you weren't able to attend, you'll be able to view a recording of the AGM on our website at the end of June.

New Education Opportunities for Restricted Activities
On April 29, 2013, the Registration Committee approved two new education initiatives to help dietitians maintain their competence with Restricted Activities:
  • Dietitians of Canada Critical Care Nutrition course for Restricted Activities A and B (8 modules, examination at the end), valid for three years, and
  • Basic Five Workshop for Restricted Activity A, facilitated by Jan Greenwood (a 1-day-workshop), valid for two years (April 20, 2013 and subsequent workshops will be accepted).
These new courses are now listed on the Application to Practice Restricted Activities as accepted proof of competence.

Jurisprudence Guide and Examination Pilot
The CDBC is now piloting the online Jurisprudence Guide and Examination with registrants until July 31. Now is your chance to pilot the examination at your leisure without having it "count" fomally. You will also have the opportunity to comment on the Guide and the Examination before the CDBC finalizes the content in the fall. The Jurisprudence requirement will ensure all dietitians have a fundamental understanding of the legal, ethical and professional framework for dietetic practice in BC - in an easy-to-use online format, at no cost. Temporary registrants will have to pass the Jurisprudence Examination before becoming Full registrants and Full registrants will have to pass the examination every five years, timed to coincide with the government's requirement for criminal record re-checks.
