Graduates of a dietetic program not approved by the CBDC Board Applicants in this category need to have their education, practical training and work experience assessed for “substantial equivalence” to current Canadian dietetic education and training, in accordance with section 44(2)(b) of the CDBC bylaws. If you are interested in applying for registration assessment, please review the Registration Assessment Application Information Guide and complete the Registration Assessment Application form. Internationally-educated dietitians are encouraged to consult the Registration Assessment Resources below to learn more about the practice of dietetics in British Columbia.
Registration Assessment Process Competence Self-assessment Process (CSAP) The CSAP was developed by the CDBC Registration Committee and a consultant through the Essential Competencies Registration Project. The project was made possible thanks to funding by the BC Government from 2007 to 2009. The new registration assessment process was approved for piloting by the Registration Committee on March 27, 2009. The Committee approved the CSAP as its new registration process on April 18, 2011. It is available to internationally-educated dietitians, USA dietitians who graduated from a non-accredited program and former dietitians returning to practice, who are registering with the CDBC for the first time. This new process allows applicants to compare their combined dietetic education, practical training and work experience to recognized standards of current Canadian dietetic practice. The process includes a verification of competence in all areas of dietetic practice and self-directed learning to bridge any gaps in knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to meet the CDBC registration requirements.
