Essential Competencies for Dietetic Practice In January 2007, the Alliance of Canadian Dietetic Regulatory Bodies published two documents: "Introduction to Essential Competencies for Dietetic Practice" and "Essential Competencies for Dietetic Practice". The Essential Competencies have been accepted by regulators as the standard for dietetic regulation several provinces, including BC, but not in all provinces. Discussion around the Essential Competencies led to the development of the Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice (PDEP) group. The Essential Competencies were used as one of the resources to develop new national competencies that are being designed to meet the needs of all three partners. "Additional qualifications" for Restricted Activities as stated in the Dietitians Regulation will be developed in addition to the new PDEP competencies. The CDBC Board approved the Essential Competencies as they are the most current national competencies available. Until PDEP's Integrated Competencies are available in 2012/13, the CDBC will continue to use the Essential Competencies: Introduction to Essential Competencies for Dietetic Practice |
